Friday Lunches Out - Bonfire Bistro

My good friend Sue, who blogs at http://mywithershins.wordpress.com, and I spend a couple Friday mornings each month practicing (trying to learn) Tai chi. We vist a bit with the other participants and then head off to a well deserved lunch.

Sue and I are both inclined to blog about our experiences so we decided to talk about our
Friday Lunches Out and some of the great restaurants we are visiting.

This past Friday we checked out Bonfire Bistro.

Bonfire Bistro is located at 1433 Corydon in Winnipeg.

They have a variety of foods but especially featured are an assortment of salads and an interesting Pizza menu. They have a wood-fired brick oven that is visible on the one side of the restaurant so that was one element that adds a special touch to their pizzas. I especially appreciate that they try to purchase local grown ingredients when possible.

Sue had a House Salad and I wanted to try the Meat Pizza and Salad that was a lunch special.

The prices are reasonable and the food was very enjoyable.  We talked and talked and eventually decided we wanted dessert too. My choice was an Apple and Pear Crisp with icecream and a nice sauce that was more like butterscotch than a caramel.

The restaurant is open for Lunch from 11:30 to 2:30 and reopens later for dinner.
